Special ex-racing Greyhound section dedicated at Golden Lake Pet Memorial Gardens...

For more than 18 months, Peggy Levin, President of Personalized Greyhounds, Inc., worked with Robin Lauver, owner of Golden Lake, Mechanicsburg, PA, on the establishment of his Pet Memorial Gardens as a final resting place for the ex-racers (from whatever source they come) who have crossed, and will cross, the Rainbow Bridge.

The area includes a gazebo with surrounding individual cremation burial sites available and two columbariams for communal burial of the cremated remains of our beloved pets. Individual plaques with pictures of the dogs can be placed on the columbariams and an 8" x 10" engraved plaque designating the area honoring the ex-racers is affixed to the gazebo. Nearby will be a large fenced area designated as a 'dog park,' available as an exercise area for all living canines, regardless of breed.

There was a dedication ceremony of the site, believed to be the first of its kind in this country, and the unveiling of the plaque on Sunday, July 25, 1999. Following the ceremony, which included a balloon launch, guided tours of the entire facility -- the boarding kennel, veterinary clinic, community building, and other areas -- were available.
